Denpasar Immigration Detention Center Deports British Foreigner

NATIONALXPOS.CO.ID, BADUNG —At the beginning of 2024, the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) again took firm steps in taking action against unscrupulous foreign nationals in Bali who committed Overstay violations. This time, a British man with the initials BAH (42) had to be deported for violating Article 78 Paragraph 2 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration. Tuesday, (2/1/2024).

In the provisions of Article 78 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 6 Year 2011 on Immigration states that “Foreigners who do not pay the burden fee as referred to in paragraph (1) are subject to Immigration Administrative Action in the form of Deportation and Deterrence“.

The provisions in Paragraph 1 referred to are Foreigners holding a Stay Permit that has expired and is still in the Indonesian Territory for less than 60 (sixty) days from the time limit of the Stay Permit shall be charged a fee in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations.

Head of Denpasar Immigration Detention Center Gede Dudy Duwita explained that when BAH arrived at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on September 29, 2023, this man used a Visa on Arrival for vacation purposes.

Previously in 2022, said Dudy, BAH was invited by a friend who owned a restaurant in Canggu, Bali. Inspired by his friend’s business expertise, BAH chose Bali as one of his places of residence. Meanwhile, to fulfill his daily needs in Bali, BAH relies on his work for several online companies in the UK by marketing construction products.

Despite knowing the importance of a valid residence permit, he admitted that he did not leave Indonesia when his VoA expired on November 27, 2023 due to his inability to afford a return ticket to the UK.
