NASIONALXPOS.CO.ID, CENTRAL PAPUA – Mobile Brigade personnel who are members of the Cartenz 2024 Peace Operation Task Force in Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua Province, were shot dead in Bilogai Village, Sugapa District. Friday (1/19/2024).
The victim died in an attack carried out by the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) of the Free Papua Organization (OPM) starting from the heart of the Sugapa district, the gunfire incident started from two locations of the construction of the statue of the Lord Jesus and from behind at the Mobile Telecommunication (Telkomsel) tower to the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force post.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Task Force of Cartenz Peace Operation said, the attack was carried out by the OPM Group under the leadership of Apen Kobogau.
The victim’s body was evacuated to the Ilu Health Center, then laid to rest at Koramil 1714-02/Ilu.
The shootout reportedly took place last night. Until this news was published, local security forces from both Mandala Task Force, Yonif RK 753/AVT Task Force, 1714-02/Ilu Koramil and Ilu Police were still pursuing. (Agus Mabel)
