NASIONALXPOS.CO.ID, BADUNG —The Honorary Board of the House of Regional Representative of the Republic of Indonesia (BK DPD RI) officially dismissed Shri I Gusti Ngurah Arya Wedakarna Mahendradatta Wedasteraputra Suyasa or better known as Arya Wedakarna (AWK) as a member of DPD RI. Friday, (2/1/2024).
In the circulating video, the official dismissal statement was read by the vice chairman of BK DPD RI, Made Mangku Pastika in the DPD RI session meeting on Jenderal Gatot Subroto street, Senayan, Jakarta, where AWK was dismissed based on Article 48 paragraph 1 and paragraph 2 of DPD RI regulation Number 1 Year 2021 DPD RI Honorary Board.
“Deciding and determining that the complainant Shri I Gusti Ngurah Arya Wedakarna Mahendradatta Wedasteraputra Suyasa, DPD RI member of Bali Province is proven to have violated the oath/pledge of office and code of ethics and/or DPD RI rules, as stipulated in the MD 3 Act with severe sanctions for dismissal as a member of DPD RI. This decision is further outlined in the decision of the DPD RI Honorary Board, “said the former Governor of Bali 2 periods.
When confirmed by Media NASIONALXPOS.co.id via Whatsapp message, AWK claimed not to be ashamed of being fired from DPD RI for the MUI report for defending Balinese Hindus.
“I am not ashamed to be fired from DPD RI because of the MUI report, after all what is being defended is the Balinese Hindus. This is a strategy to unite the people of Bali,” said AWK.
As previously reported, the dismissal of AWK is the aftermath of the report of the Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) of Bali Province related to Wedakarna’s speech which is considered to cause uproar and allegedly SARA (Ethnicity, Religion, Race, Intergroup). (Uchan)
